I DID NOT buy this on amazon. I bought it from a local furniture store. It's truly a quality piece of furniture. I'm a 165 pound college student, and this loft bed holds me no problem. It is VERY STURDY. I'll post a picture of my setup. Although it may be a little more difficult to put the sheets on your mattress, it is well worth the price for the quality of the product and the space you'll save. The desk and shelf are a heavy particle board with a grippy resilient coating. The desk is sturdy enough for me to sit on. If you have any questions comment and I'll respond as soon as possible.
