Where have you been all my life???
Ok, I don't usually go out of my way to review feminine hygiene products, but this has literally changed my life. I have had extremely heavy periods since my first one (when I was 9 years old in the middle of a school day! Talk about horrifying!). My periods usually last 7 days.
I don't use tampons, I have always found them very uncomfortable. So I used pads and would go through several a day,
and be up twice during the heavy flow nights.
I'd seen Softcup advertised and kept wondering if I should try it. I finally did and it may be one of the best decision I've ever made!
I have been using the Softcup for 7 months now. It took some getting used to the first month, I was a little more 'crampy' using a Softcup (I've always had really heavy cramping), but thought with as much mess as it reduced, I could live with it. And boy did it ever reduce the mess! I slept through every night without waking up just knowing that I was 'leaking' like I did with pads.
The second month, I used the Softcup again, not looking forward to the extra cramping, but glad to know the mess would be reduced to almost nothing. But, no cramps! Well, I should say, no worse cramps than when I used a pad. I was so happy I had no words.
After the third month the hardest part about the Softcup is remembering that I'm even using it. No mess, no chaffing, no smell! The freedom I feel from this wonderful product is immeasurable. I can exercise, do yard work, mow the lawn, and not worry that I'm on my period! The fact that my period no longer puts my sex life on hold has made my husband a happy camper as well!
One more little fact. I am currently what cannot be defined as anything other than morbidly obese. I wondered before I tried Softcup if maneuvering to get it in and out would be difficult. I have not found it to be so. In fact, it has been very simple (after the first few times). The only thing that occasionally happens is the Softcup does come out a little bit when I strain on the toilet. And by a little bit, I mean a very little bit. Just enough to be aware of it.
Overall, I am so very happy with the Softcup.
Note: Originally I used the disposable Softcups, but have since switched to the reusable ones in the past 2 months. For me they are more comfortable, being slightly smaller than the disposable ones.
