This does take some practice using, but practice pays off. If you're afraid of manual focus, this is not the lens for you. If you want to learn a new skill, buy it. I'm sure the really expensive ones will give you better results, but for my needs, this one is just fine. One thing that has come out of learning manual focus.....I use it more than auto-focus now. Who'd have thunk it?
