From a road warriors perspective....not bad.
I've never been much of an electric shaver kind of guy. I do have some issues with sensitivity, especially on my neck if I'm continually running blades across my face and neck, whether they be manual or electric. That being said, my experience with the Norelco 2100 wasn't bad at all. I'm a trucker. There are plenty of times I am not able to get a shave with a manual blade. Most of the time I just let my stubble grow until I can get a shower at a truck stop or at home. That leaves me looking less than professional sometimes. I'd much rather convey a clean cut appearance than have customers and the general public continue to believe that truckers are mostly scuzzy. For that reason, I decided to try this electric to see if I could step up my game. I have been using this razor for 2 weeks now, and here are my pros and cons: Pros - Operates from a long lasting battery. I can charge this and use it every day for at least 6 days without a charge. (Haven't tried longer). - Pretty close shave. I don't think it's quite as close as a blade, but it's pretty good. It even gets those gray whiskers that are tough to corral. - Easy to clean. I usually just have to knock the whiskers out because I don't have running water in my truck, but you can run the thing under water to rinse it. - Pretty quiet. My previous experience with electrics was similar to using a leaf blower in volume. This is pretty quiet. - According to the company, these are self sharpening blades. Cons: - Will not operate while plugged in to charge. As awesome as the battery seems to be, you can't use the razor while it's plugged in. - Head cover is basically worthless. I put this razor in my travel kit with the protective cover over the head, but just the act of putting it in my kit will knock the "protective" cover off. - Still causes me discomfort. In order to get a close enough or thorough enough shave, I end up having to make multiple passes in some areas, and that amount of friction still causes me to get a razor burn. It's easy enough to soothe with some lotion, and I can still use the razor every day, but I still don't like the feeling. Those are my major pros and cons. While I understand that this razor is a more or less introductory model, I think some improvements can be made. I don't understand why, in this day and age, that they couldn't install a bypass circuit so you could use this while the charge cord was connected. At the same time, self sharpening blades at this price point seems like a pretty good deal. Overall, I do like this razor, and will continue to use it to groom while on the road. I'm glad Philips Norelco sent me this in exchange for this review. I probably wouldn't have tried it otherwise.
