Better Than the Other Reviews Say
Before I bought this a month ago, I'd read through a TON of the reviews and gotten a worse impression that I, as an owner, am having now. I think that every reviewer who wasn't confidence-inspired by the compartment door had three or more cards/folded cash stuffed into it. I'd just like to add that it is VERY confidence-inspiring if you only put two credit cards in it. I'm never afraid it's going to accidentally open. As I never store more than that, I'm sorry I can't contest the other reviews on the experience of storing 3 cards. Also, i personally think that the lock/power button, despite some other reviews, is not that hard to press. I can comfortably do it using the index finger of the only hand I'm holding it with. The volume buttons are easy to press. The front edges of the case stick out a bit such that I would be able to slide my phone, face down, across 200grit sandpaper (maybe also a sidewalk) without scratching the screen. The back of this case has a really smart design that no one else has mentioned as well. You can't really tell from the pictures, but the matte black area to the right of the camera is slightly raised, so that if you slide the phone on its back across a rough surface, scratches would be localized to that section and the bottom edge of the case. Yes, gloss black means more visible scratches, but it's still not that bad; I personally think gloss looks cool on a phone case. Unlike some other reviewers, I don't think the gloss aspect makes the plastic look cheap at all. It actually looks (and is) hard. The bottom front-facing edge of the case doesn't perfectly fit with the phone, but it would only ever be noticeable to the owner. I'm not sure why some people said it's hard to take the case off the phone. Probably a lack of practice. Just hold an edge with your index&middle fingers and use your thumb to push the phone through the open card compartment door - it's simple and low hassle. Putting the phone back in is easy, esp if you slide in the top end first (b/c of the sleep button) - the case is kinda malleable. The spring-loaded (actually, it uses an elastic metal joint with no springs) card compartment door appears to me like it would survive the test of time - maybe a decade. Yes, it does come with scruff marks all over the back, brand-new in box. Feels very comfortable in hand - all side faces of the case are round. Too bad that as a result of this, you can't stand the phone on its side to take super-steady pictures. I guess that's where the kickstand comes in. The kickstand works well, and can be pushed to open at 180 degrees. Due to lack of grip, it won't work on tile or wood furniture. It works on my bed, my arm (for reference), and similarly grippy surfaces. With only 2 cards the in compartment, the door closes very well, with a very dull click. It's extremely difficult to open/use without two hands. It looks cool and I like it a lot. I've used my boredom to try to make the best review here. I mentioned everything I can think of right now and I hope y'all like it UPDATE: Just replied a comment and thought I might as well make an update, considering the new wave of iPhone 5S and 5C users that might be ransacking Amazon for the best case. Anyway, I've owned and continuously used this for over 9 months now, and still agree with everything that I wrote so long ago. Everything still works as new. The added scratches are still subtle. It has fully successfully protected my phone for multiple chest-high drops. I'd just like to add one more bit of info I was missing before: whether or not the case can completely fit 3 cards is dependent on how many of the cards have raised text (like credit cards and unlike IDs) - the door closes completely with 2 credit cards and 1 ID, and will only close enough with 3 credit cards such that it will securely hold them, but will not be flush with the rest of the case.
