Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

This is a good product with minor drawbacks and oversights that keep it from a five star rating. The positives are that it's efficient, easy to use and clean, and user-friendly. Trays fit well, and six of them hold plenty. The digital readout and controls are easy to see, and intuitive. There's no need for the instruction manual, which I put aside. Oops. This brings me to the not-quites: I can't find this model on the manufacturer's website, nor can I find an online manual anywhere. I searched Magic Mill's page, and it said "no results" when I entered 'dehydrator.' Why would I need the manual? To see if there's a way to override the beeper when something is done. Often this is at odd hours, middle of the night, during the day when I'm not home, but the dog is...I want to set the unit to shut off without beeping-- after all, it's not like I need to be alerted immediately so the dehydrated food doesn't go bad. Also, it makes a bit more fan noise than I'd like. Not intrusive, about like a small fridge, but noticeable, even in another room. It doesn't bother me...much. But I see where it might bother some people. Still, there are more positives than negatives, and my wife, who backpacks frequently, has been happily running this little gadget nonstop for a few weeks. She loves it. And wants to shut off the beeper function. Anyone know how? It's a good investment, but I wonder a couple of things: One: would any of the competing units have been more versatile, and Two: just how much did all the other commenters receive in their "deep" and "significant" discounts for their "unbiased" reviews? It frustrates me more than the beeper or fan that the majority of the comments are from people who got this unit on the cheap. How about some genuinely unbiased reviews? It makes full-price-paying me feel like a sucker, even though I like the product. Magic Mill, are you reading these forums?
