I usually buy the whole peppercorns at my local market that come with their own manual grinder. Frequently, though, the grinder doesn't work and I end up throwing the peppercorns away since I can't use them without a grinder. I just buy another peppercorn/grinder combo. I hate wasting food items as well as money, so when I saw the Epare Battery Operated Salt or Pepper Grinder, I decided to give it a try. The grinder requires 4 AA batteries which are not included. Not a big inconvenience for me since batteries are rarely included and I keep a stockpile of batteries just for this very reason. The grinder itself looks nice and isn't cheaply made. The clear container is easy to fill, and with a simple press of the button, the peppercorns are ground and then released. The LED light is a nice feature, as it illuminates the food so you can see how much seasoning is actually getting on the food. I really like this battery-powered pepper mill, as I have arthritis in my hands and fingers which sometimes bothers me when I use a manual grinder. So, I think this grinder is a handy little gadget to have in anyone's kitchen. It does state that you can grind kosher salt or other seasonings, but so far I have used mine only for peppercorns. There is nothing like having freshly ground peppercorns flavoring and enhancing your food. This product met all my expectations, so I gave it 5 stars. I did receive this at a discount for my unbiased and honest opinion based solely on my personal use of the product.
