I became afraid...but then I loved it!
I must have read every review on here before I bought this. Then I stared at it. I have colored hair that's also been bleached. Then I stared at it some more. "Are you gonna make my hair fall out?" I silently asked the bottle. It didn't answer. I'd also purchased another flat iron. One that would go up to 450 degrees, I looked at the flat iron, "Hmm...what's the flash point for hair?" My hair is not wildly curly. It's also only about shoulder length. It's that in between frizzy that looks like I have a bad '80s perm...c'mon you know the one. I typically flat iron every day. So I think to myself, "How could this be any worse that flat ironing EVERY SINGLE DAY?! Calm down. Four hundred 5 star reviews on Amazon can't be wrong can they? I'd had Keratin treatments done a few times at the salon and I loved them - but I didn't love paying $150. I am so glad I went through with it! Here's what I did: 1) I did not have clarifying shampoo so I washed my hair twice with my regular shampoo and then massaged it with a baking soda paste, then rinsed with vinegar. I'd never done this before. The good thing is that my hair felt really soft after. The bad thing is that it lifted a little of the color I'd had done a few weeks ago. 2) Blew my hair dry. 3) Applied the product. This part was hard. They seem to imply that getting it on your scalp is bad, but then they also say to saturate the hair. After some failed attempts at this I finally just started squeezing it into my hand (I was wearing gloves) and then massaging it into my hair. I combed and massaged through a couple of times. 4) I blew my hair dry. Wow! This part made my eyes water. Like seriously water. I just held my breath and pictured my hair being straight and soft. 5) After it was dry, I started straightening it in small sections, running the 450 degree iron over it about 7 times a strand. Holy wow! My hair got hot! It burned my fingertips at one point. Basically I started doing every section 3 or 4 times and then went over it again. And it smelled pretty bad - but not as bad as when I was blow drying. At one point, my hair sizzled. What's the flash point for hair again? When I finished, my hair felt kinda sticky and clearly dulled by the product but it was straight. Hmmm... The next day I decided to just flat iron it AGAIN, just to make sure. So I did. The following day, I had to wash it (two days later). I washed it (no sulfides, tyvm) and blew it out. WOW! My hair is straight with a bit of body left and way softer than before. No frizz. I didn't have to flatten it and I didn't use any product besides a light shaping spray. AND I have enough product left to do two more treatments? I love it!
