While this has a lot of cleaning power, there are some feature that fall short of my expectations. I've used a Shark Professional for many years and have appreciated how light and maneuverable it is, as well as its ability to clean (I gave away to a family member when I purchased the Vertex). 1) Unlike my old Shark, this does not light the pathway when the wand is detached for use. I often clean when it's dark and I miss this feature to be able to see into dim corners as I clean. 2) The power button often takes several attempts to start or stop the vacuum (weird). 3) I understand this is a more powerful vacuum than my old Shark, but this is a lot heavier machine to maneuver and requires caution when vacuuming smaller rugs as it will suck up the rug edges. 4) While the 'cup' appears to be larger capacity, it really isn't-- deduced when detaching in order to empty debris. 5) After initial first use, then not using for a few days, I used it for a couple minutes and it stopped working for seemingly no reason. I referred to the manual to troubleshoot and followed directions to check if there was an obstructing object that needed to be dislodged. I didn't see anything, but the vacuum did start up after checking pathways. But after reading about the need to allow the vacuum to sit for 24 hours in some cases, I was concerned. Who waits for 24 hours for a vacuum to be usable again?! 6) It's expensive. 7) And considering the price, it's unfortunate that it didn't come with an extra foam filter. 8) It's LOUD. Okay, so considering all of the above, I kept the vacuum to use up to the returnable date and have decided to keep it because: 1) It will clean under couch and chairs as it drops lower to the floor to do so. 2) It pivots with ease for good maneuverability. 3) It cleans hardwood floors better than any previous vacuum I've owned. 4) I empty frequently while using to prevent the vacuum from stopping (as per manual). I don't mind doing this because it's easy to dump the dirt. 5) It cleans DEEP.
