We have had this kettle for about 6 weeks now and we are really pleased with this purchase. As the pictures show, the outside is a very rich looking reflective black heat resistant plastic, but on the inside it is 100% food grade stainless steel The Stainless Steel appears to be made from one piece of metal, which means no seam and no crevice in which you can get bacteria. In our previous kettle from another manufacturer, there was a crevice and it was very hard to clean and when we first got it, it had a strong smell and taste to the water that took several weeks to go away. This one was perfect right from the start and is much more hygienic than other designs. We have not had to clean it even once and there is no calcium buildup on the stainless as we used to get. It looks like this will rarely need any cleaning which is a big plus. It appears to be quality all around and will last a long time. Overall, we are very pleased and would definitely recommend to others
