I started running ultras so I was looking for a prefect shorts. I was looking for following functionality :- - Light weight and non cotton fabric - Should have the pockets on the side, I didn't mind the extra length - Have a back pocket with zipper, to keep keys or gels or phone - Have a inner mesh lining - Have a waist string, so when it becomes old and elastic gives up then I can use the waist string. After coming across this and looking at the review this seemed like the perfect fit. I am 5'6 and 145 pounds with 30 inch waist and ordered small. It satisfies all of the above requirements but it does have small flare around it because of the elastic which I don't like so much. I also figured out that I don't really like the extra length till knees. So there is a compromise between short length or side pockets. I want the side pocket since I can stuff my cap during the race when running in shaded areas so that I can feel the wind in the hair. Use the cap in the open prairie.
