GREAT bang for the buck
If you’re reading reviews, what you really want to know is, “should I buy this?”. The short answer if YES and here’s why. For the past few years, a constant item in my backpack has been a FiiO A3 amp headphone amp. Since I tend to use power hungry wired headphones instead of the usual bluetooth headphones a headphone amp is really one of those must have items, otherwise you’re just listening to a hot mess, not getting the most out of your headphones or your music. However, a bad headphone amp can be just as bad or even worse as having no amp at all. When I opened the box for this, I have to say that I was a bit apprehensive. It couldn’t have been more generic which is usually a bad sign, But, once I took it out, the first thing that struck me was its size and weight. Honestly, it is almost identical to my FiiO. One noticeable difference is that the FiiO has a bass boost switch and this does not. NOTE: the description say that it has a bass boost switch but it definitely does NOT. Bass boosting on headphone amps like this are basically a gimmick anyway. The construction is surprising nice, all metal with the ports straight and true. It isn't USB-C but for the price did you really expect it to be? When I first plugged into this amp I instantly noticed how quiet it was. No hisses, no buzzing, as a matter of fact, you actually had to turn it all the way up to get even a hint of a noticeable hiss. Additionally, my Sennheisers (and everything else I tested) didn’t perform any differently with this amp then they did with any of my other amps. Where this amp really shines is the price. At the time of this review it was less than $25. USD. Are you kidding me? That’s easily less than ½ of my usual daily driver for pretty much the exact same performance. One more thing, I’ve been using this for 9 days straight now and I still have yet to charge it. Bottom line, this little guy is just plain nice and does exactly what it’s supposed to do; and that’s to help drive your power hungry headphones. No bells and whistles, just that little bit of (very necessary) additional power. If you’re still on the fence about buying these, go ahead and jump on down so you can BUY THESE NOW. Do I recommend this? Ummmm….. Yeah! Emoji Rating: 👍👍👍👍👍 Hey, thanks for taking the time to read my random review, I really hope it helped. Have a great one. Cheers!
