Yes it is adjustable.
Knowing nothing about jump ropes except that I last used one about 25 years ago I purchased this one when my 3.5 year old (40" tall) daughter asked for one. I just looked for one that seemed to be toddler friendly. It arrived and it was too long. After poorly teaching her to wrap it around her wrists to shorten it I decided to educate myself about appropriate jump rope length vs. height (fyi, it's 6 foot ropes for people 48" and under, 7 foot for 49" to 57", and 8 foot for beyond that). With that information I measured this one and was right about at 7 feet. So, going back through my order history I clicked again on this rope to see if there was a 6 foot version. Lo and behold this one is adjustable! Obviously I didn't read too much about this product and I wasn't about to start now, so I went to adjust the rope we already have and was confronted with the reportedly confounding adjustable handles. Using what my wife describe as my super-human grip strength I was able to muscle one of the handles open, untied the knot in the rope, moved it up 6 inches and tied another not. The extra rope tucked effortlessly into the hollow handle. Moving on the the other handle I figure there had to be an easier way to open it. After unsuccessfully trying to pry a few objects into the slots I decided to squeeze the non-slotted sides of the handle and, voila, it popped right open like a prescription pill bottle. Rope is awesome, go ahead and get it.
