Awesome fire pit, worth the higher price!
Originally when I was looking into fire pits, I sent my significant other an e-mail (when I was at work, shame on me) asking her to see what she thought were the nicest $100 or less fire pits. Apparently she missed that part of the memo because her top choice (this one) was approaching $150. As I looked at it more closely, it seemed like a nice unit and had the potential to outlast the other pits for sale. I decided to spend a little more and get it. After using this fire pit multiple times this summer, I really love it! The pattern on the sides of the pit allow the light (and heat) out, making for nice lighting on the ground around it. After reading many reviews, I chose to buy a $3 bag of sand to put on the bottom of the pit in order to keep it from getting so banged up. The quality of the metals is very good, and the unit is very sturdy once it's completely assembled. The cover is a nice touch, although I usually choose to forego it when I'm having a fire. If you live in an area with frequent rains/snow and plan on having this out year round, or even just out during the summer, you definitely will want to purchase a sub-$10 cover. You can put the cover in the pit itself so small covers will do the trick. This will keep the finish looking nice. I had it outside through a few rains...I noticed some rust spots that wiped away, but thought it would be better to keep it protected. I imagine this fire pit will last for many summers, so I'm very happy with my purchase.
