Skeptical of the Noise Reduction Rating
The difference between these and other earplugs from the same company, such as Flents Quiet Please Earplugs and Super Sleep Comfort Foam Ear Plugs, seems to be that these are longer. Apparently this gives them a higher Noise Reduction Rating (33dB, compared with 29dB on the others). I think this must be assuming you insert the plugs all the way, which I personally can't do - it starts to be very uncomfortable when they go in too far. I guess the foam sitting outside the ear canal might block a bit of sound, but it seems like a lot would get in from the side. Besides, past a certain point, you're going to get more sound conducted through your skull than through the foam. (Noise Reduction Ratings are very approximate. The real amount of reduction depends on the frequencies of the sound, how well you insert the plugs, and the shape of your ear canal, among other things. Ratings are at best an average, and at worst marketing.) The extra length does make these easier to remove. It will tend to be uncomfortable for sleeping on your side. I recommend Flents Quiet Please Earplugs unless you know that you have extra-long ear canals. For sleeping on your side, you might want to also get some Super Sleep Comfort Foam Ear Plugs and see if they're more comfortable for you.
