Can I marry it?
I really, really, really hate vacuuming. I'll put it off until there are a couple dogs accumulated under the bed. It gets embarrassing inviting people over. And sadly, I have tile floors with 2 entry rugs. It's not like our 864 sq ft main floor is all that big to vacuum. So I decided in 2008 to invest in a Miele Callisto $800 canister vac. Thinking this would solve all my problems, I used it around the house and on the stairs. Even though I only have to plug it in one time to vacuum the main floor, I found I still hated to vacuum. Finally stick vacs come out and I borrow a Shark Duo. I balked at the $300 but loved the ability to grab and go. I was also not sold on bagless, it seems like you are just spreading the dust when dumping. I went back to my local vacuum guy and asked about the Miele stick vacs. Holy cows are they expensive. And no way would I buy one. But then I thought, what if I vacuum once a week. After only about 3-4 years it would pay for itself in peace of mind that I had clean floors. So local guy gives me $50 off the non-HEPA floor model. This storm-trooper model. I take it home and vacuum the main floor, both stairwells, the loft, and parts of the basement. I now find myself vacuuming multiple times a day. I have a vacuum fetish, probably not healthy, but there it is. I look at the big cousin and think to myself, nope, not gonna use it. So here are my PROS/CONS: PRO: Much lighter than lugging around a canister No extension cord to get in your way Gets into the corners better than the Miele Callisto Fairly easy to dump Doesn't smell like my dog, which the Callisto does when the bag gets more than half full (even with HEPA) Does wood stairs with the standard powerhead Goes from floor mat to tile floor automatically, which is cool Does a great job of picking up my Jack Russell spear-like hair, fine dust particles, and tiny rocks that I stupidly installed as a pathway outside the door Dumps fairly easily Cleanable filters - tap clean and vacuum (well I have to use the $800 vacuum for something!) Fairly easy to hand wash the dust bin The hanger/holder/charger mounts easily and holds the 2 accessories nicely I have a small house so battery life isn't an issue All the Miele stick vacs use the SAME BATTERY, unlike Shark which has like a million batteries, thus potentially making your vacuum an orphan in the future CONS: The dust bin slides on/off using a tongue and groove method - this is German ingenuity that is likely to fail in the future, just ask my Miele Callisto and each time the powerhead falls off the canister Hard to get long hair out of the canister A bit heavy, but not too bad Cost, yikes (just for reference, I'm fairly cheap) Not the easiest to put on the hanging holder/charger Directly plugging the vac into the charger shocked me a couple times, so I now use the holder/charger I want to marry it (although maybe a positive for my husband?) I've included my newlywed pics, appropriately located next the the front door mat :) UPDATE 12/26/21 I noticed my husband is now cheating on me. He is using the vacuum regularly to keep the front door mat clean. Also our battery is holding up after a year and 2 months now. I hang ours on the wall and it is constantly charging.
