I have purchased compression socks before. These are the best that I've ever purchased! They are heavier than the ones that I bought in the past. At 5'3" and currently swollen to 190ish pounds, width-wise the L-XL size works very well. They aren't too hard to put on, so they are not like the hospital compression garments in that way. My knees are especially swollen, and that, combined with being short, make the tops of these cut in a bit uncomfortably. Not too bad, though, and by folding the tops down, they actually work even better. They have stayed folded down for me, too. These are synthetic and they are not going to "breathe" like ones that have the toes cut out, so these need to be coupled with fastidiousness when it comes to cleaning your feet or problems would develop. Because it is a multi-pack, though, it is easy enough to change them two or more times a day, and I recommend that you consider that if you are going to have these on most of the time. These look normal enough that they can be work as normal socks, even for business, in my opinion. I wouldn't even think twice about that. I am hand-washing them, as in the past the dryer has destroyed compression socks. It is taking a full 24 hours for them to dry (A/C and dehumidifier are running). Right now until I get swelling under control I am using 3 pairs a day, and with a generous 7 pairs in this pack, I can allow them that time to dry, no problem.
