Not all good news here.. I unboxed and gave my new vacuum a trial run this weekend. I ran it down the hardwood floor runners and it worked great. I then decided to try the extra hose tools out and started with the 2 in1 crevice and brush tool. It was not picking anything up.. I tried the other tool with the claw and roller on it and the roller would not spin. I removed the tool and felt for suction and it was minimal. I switched back to floor mode and now it was not doing a good job either. Scratching my head I went about checking everything. Following the manual I checked filters, hose and everything. I decided to go ahead and wash the filters as recommended though they were brand new. Today Monday I called the help desk. While on hold I kept studying the vacuum. I came across the internal valve and noticed it was in the middle position. Left would be hose and right would be floor. By removing the dirt tray I was able to stick my finger in it and move it into hose mode. It worked fine then but did not move back when switched to floor. I am an appliance tech by trade so I examined further with a flashlight and could see that a spring was hanging free. I took it apart and rehooked it. The vacuum now works great! The internal valve is switching like its supposed to and I really like it. This would be an easy 5 star rating had they not shipped me a broken vacuum and if I was not a tech able to repair it on my own, it would have been sent back and a competitors model would have been purchased instead.
