These actually WORK!
These have higher levels of Valerian than any other calming dog supplement I've seen. And they are minty so they freshen breath. My dog loves them and on a day when we are not going anywhere (she's my Guide Dog and has some anxiety issues) one of these bones will knock her right out and make her much more calm when mailman and garbage men and other dogs walk by the house--less barking and alerting. On days when she is working, or visiting my mom's house which is a stressful event for her, these will take the edge off and allow her to not pant so heavily and even to lay down and relax for a few minutes. Although, I usually have to give her a second about 30 minutes apart under high stress conditions. One note of WARNING: I am a dog behaviorist/trainer so I feel the need to tell anyone using these for anxiety and stress--NOT to give them in the middle of the stressful event. Giving food and treats while a dog is upset by thunder and fireworks and other things, can actually increase the anxiety level. This is a psychological thing--not a medical thing. Feeding while the brain is in that state acts as a reinforce r of that "behavior" and those feelings. For best effectiveness and to avoid a raised level of anxiety in the future, give these BEFORE the stressors start. If you know fireworks are about to start, give these a half hour before or so. It's best while the dog is not agitated or anxious yet.
