I am a communications technician having worked in the field for over 20 years, and I must say I am very impressed with these radios. I was expecting a light, plastic, cheap set of basic transceivers. I was wrong. What we received were three quality units that perform far better than I expected. We tested on our property (a couple acres in a quasi rural area) and had zero problems getting good communication all over. The product boasts a 3kM range, and while I wasn't able to test out that far, I have no doubt these radios are capable of reaching at least that far. The audio quality was every bit as clear as the radios I work on in my profession. Multiple channels, VOX operation and an easy to read display are all as advertised. Uses 4 AAA batteries per unit, which make these perfect for outdoor family activities like hiking and camping. For a kids walkie talkie set, you can't get a better deal than this.
