After looking at 10 other products, I came across this product with more offerings of different colors. Sadly, there were no product reviews when I purchased this, but I thought I would give it a try anyway. The price seemed right for extra colors. I am still using these pencils on a first try and am rather happy with them. So far, I have only had one 'bad' pencil out of the lot that has broken lead down the entire length. I had to sharpen the pencil and the lead broke four times. Also, there are ten pencils in the punch that have been sharpened on one side and not all the way around. Many of the pencils were over-sharpened and broke on first use, but actually broke off to a length that was usable. So far, I have not had too much trouble with the pencils breaking during sharpening (but for that darn green one). The lead is very smooth and almost 'silky' (I have no clue if there is a term for the feel of the pencil when in use) and does not feel gritty or waxy. On regular printed paper the pencils wear down slowly and do not require a lot of pressure to use, but I do have a book that has recycled paper that is a little more fiber-ish (if that is even a word...) and that type of paper wore down the pencils a little more, but I can understand that. I am very pleased that these pencils came in a secured case so that the pencils do not bump around. I read many reviews on other products form people who got their products in paper bags or loose in boxes thus causing damage to the lead in their pencils, so I am very pleased this set comes with a handy case. However, there is one complaint I have that is more to the design of the case. Two of pencils had their tips broken probably during packaging because the snaps of the plastic case are closed right on top of the tips of these two pencils. Just a design flaw that did no serious damage, but just a little annoying. However, the item was packaged really well in the shipping box.
