Not A Comedy
This Movie was not what I expected - I'm not sure why they made it look like a comedic film in the trailers. It had moments of comedy, but make no mistake it is a drama. The acting is excellent. The story moves a bit slow after the first half then picks up at the end. The sound track is very interesting - "Without You" is playing in one scene as young Marines are going into a combat situation, I found this to be an extremely sad moment in the film. This is not an entirely flattering picture of war journalists, but also gives insight into the way our government used the media/journalists to "sell" the wars in Afghanistan,and Iraq to the Western world (by encouraging the embedded war journalist). Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot tells the story of how journalists can get "hooked" on the adrenaline/attention of covering events while embedded with a military unit. It is a solid film with great acting, and provokes a great deal of thought.
