tinted, hydrating MINERAL sunscreen, ilcudes 3 essential skin barrier protecting ceramides
When it comes to choosing a sunscreen, it is between mineral/physical blocks and chemical blocks. Each offer pros and cons, and it comes down to what works best for your life style, your skin and what other needs you are trying to gain from it. I like mineral sunscreens, and most work well for me because I have fair skin tone and the white cast isn't too noticeable. Many of the tinted mineral sunscreens attempt to lessen the white cast but still leave a hint of a white cast- again mostly fine for me but it leaves out a lot of other skin tones. Usually ones needs a chemical sunscreen to avoid the white cast, and need a chemical sunscreen for more options in using an SPF that is hydrating and/or tinted. But not everyone tolerates chemical sunscreens. Conundrum! My sensitive skin (non acne rosacea) prefers a mineral sunscreen. I tend to keep my day time skin care simple, and since sunscreen is the most important thing no matter the season, I prefer to use one that can double as a moisturizer. This light coverage tint makes me feel a little more polished. I can tell there is a little tint but it is super sheer. The CeraVe HYDRATING tinted mineral sunscreen has a broad spectrum SPF of 30. It has a sheer tint that initially appears a tad dark and orangey against my fair pink toned skin. I applied it both on my forearm as well as on my face. True to form, this formula blended seamlessly into my skin. Any off coloring dissipated shortly after application. It is most noticeable on my forearm so I included pics of it being applied, just as it was spread on, and then after it absorbed. Most importantly, I am not noticing ANY white cast. Not sure how dark of skin tone one can go before it appears too light, but if the seemingly darker color is absorbing into my skin, then perhaps it works similarly to those further along in color spectrum? My skin is super light, pink based, and this does add a touch of warm color but not so much that it looks too dark. Additionally, what I really like it that my skin feels hydrated and slightly dewy. Not greasy. Not covered in sunscreen. My skin leans dry, so I definitely like this. Love that it contains skin barrier protecting ceramides (helps hold skin together by forming a protective layer that limits moisture loss and protects against visible damage from pollution and other environmental stressors) as well as niacinamide (a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly improve enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, and a weakened surface). Allergy tested Fragrance-free Paraben-free Oil-free Non-comedogenic Suitable for sensitive skin Gentle on the skin I found that I can apply it after my typical skin care routine (hydrating toners, moisturizer, then this), OR just this as my only skin care. I have tried it under powder make up as well as a liquid. It plays well with both. No pilling on my end. I love CeraVe so I am stoked that this has been so good for me.
