I have tried multiple protective covers and they seemed as though they would break the kindle fire until I decided on Marware. The design allows the best access to all buttons and plugs...the mic is even open and the head phone jack is no problem at all. The speakers are 100% open so there is no distortion. If you are unhappy with portrait I am unsure why because you can hold it. Anyway, this is an awesome protector for kindle fire HD 7" now it' s time to return the others.
