Works great on 2011 Macbook Pro!!! :)
Got this to speed up my 2011 Macbook Pro. Works great. A couple of tips: 1) First, make sure that you backup your internal HDD to an external Hard Drive using Time Machine. A note for people that use Parallels Desktop for Mac to run Windows XP, 7 or 8/8.1: By default, Parallels is NOT backed up to your hard drive with Time Machine. Please make sure that the ".pvm" bundle file exists on your external drive backup BEFORE you manually install your SSD on your Macbook Pro. The PVM file is bundle that contains the virtual machine configuration file (PVS), virtual hard disk file (HDD), and other files. You will need this bundle to run Parallels on your new SSD. In order to backup your PVM bundle, make sure that you do the following: •in Parallels Desktop 9: switch to Security tab Uncheck "Time Machine: do not backup with Time machine" checkbox 2) I would recommend putting in a clean install of the Mac OSX Mavericks from an 8GB bootable USB flash drive (Mavericks OSX 10.9.4 is about 5GB). Please check the vid below on how to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MYJuSBaQXE&feature=youtu.be 3) Next watch this video on how to install an upgrade your Macbook Pro with an SSD How to Upgrade your MacBook PRO to a SSD (Solid State Hard Drive): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBgjnIv0a7w 4) Once you boot up and see that everything is in working order, make sure you download TRIM. Enable it and reboot your system. Basically, in a nutshell, TRIM extends the lifespan of your drive and helps the SSD perform faster writes. The general consensus online is that if you have an aftermarket SSD (like Samsung's 850 Pro), it is highly recommended that you enable TRIM for your Macbook Pro.
