I have been using a Clever Coffee Dripper (CCD) for a couple of years and really like it over the office-supplied coffee. However, I was getting tired of having to time the soak and many times would not get around to emptying it into my coffee cup in time due to talking to others when away from my office cubicle. Thus I looked for a single-cup brewer and the OXO GG checked all the boxes, along without needing electricity! In using it, the coffee flavor seemed to be the same as the CCD even though others swear it being different. I decided to perform a head-to-head comparison so everything was the same (coffee amount, water amount, water temp, filter used, etc.). I brewed the CCD for the same amount of time that the OXO GG dripped its reservoir, thus the soak time was the same. After three tests that included flavor and aroma I found absolutely NO DIFFERENCE! What have I done now that I found no difference in flavor? Well, as much as I like the CCD in terms of clean-up and ease-of-use, I am sticking with the OXO GG unit as it's simpler to actually use since there is no need to perform any timing. I can pour my water into the reservoir and walk away if I have to without having to worry about rushing back before my timer rings. Thus it's the simplicity of the device that gives it the edge for me in the office. However, for those who like a little more control of their lazy brewing then the CCD may be the unit for you since you can control the soaking time.
