We received our new umbrella in the mail the other day and we were very excited to test it out. Primarily, we were interested in testing out the headline which read "60mph windproof." Not seeing any heavy winds in the forecast, we thought it was best to take matters into our own hands. Before we get into that, though, lets discuss initial thoughts.. First off, the umbrella looks great. The carrying sack is nice. You can place it in the sack after a heavy rain and the umbrella won't get your car wet. The next thing I noticed was how quick and easily it compressed down to a manageable size. When closed, this umbrella has a very small form factor and won't take up too much space in your closet or in your car. Now the fun part. The claim of it withstanding winds up to 60 mph seemed unreasonable to me so I felt we had to put this to the test. To do this, I had my friend in the bed of my truck, and we created 60mph winds. Here's the breakdown. See the video below to follow along. Holding this umbrella over the shoulder so that the winds hit the bottom directly, it will turn inside out with winds of about 15-20mph. That being said, nobody holds an umbrella like that unless you're frolicking through a field of flowers. We didn't expect it to last long this way. Next we moved the umbrella to a normal position (above/around the head to protect from rain). This is where the umbrella thoroughly impressed me. From the drivers seat looking through the rearview, the umbrella appears to fold inwards and lose its form at about 40mph. I decided to finish the test, though and get it up to 60. Up to 60mph, I think the umbrellas done for. Upon pulling over and exiting the truck, though, we find that its still 100% usable. I was shocked! This umbrella 100% gets a 5 star review from me! We pushed it to its limits, fully expecting it to fail and we were wrong. This guy really will survive winds up to 60 mph and keep you dry at the same time!...well..as dry as possible in the ridiculous crazy storm you're caught in.
