NOW Foods Super Enzymes are Super
I am working on dealing with over 20 years of digestive issues that range from GERD (acid reflux) to SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), to leaky gut syndrome, to IBS and a bunch of other similar ailments. Along with changes in diet, adding digestive enzymes allowed me to kick a nearly two decade old Prilosec habit (despite multiple doctors telling me it would be impossible). I take these before and after meals, anywhere from 3 to 12 depending on the size of the meal. That's a lot of enzymes, but it's stuff that my body should be making and needs - which is many times better than stopping acid production in my stomach (which is what the Prilosec did). In the end, my IBS is gone, my skin and nails look better than they ever did, and I feel great. I have tried about a dozen different brands and keep coming back to this one. I like the mixture of enzymes and the supporting cast (a little Ox bile and some Betaine HCl for example). I have these on subscription with Amazon. Great price, great value, and couldn't be more convenient. Highly recommended. UPDATE - 4/2014 I find that the combination of these plus a dedicated Betaine HCl supplement (NOW makes one, I also like Doctor's Best) along with the Super Enzymes improves the results even further and reduces the total number of enzyme tablets required. It's now been almost 2.5 years since I have taken a prescription for digestive issues and I couldn't do it without the enzymes. UPDATE - 7/2014 After 2.5 years of intensive healing including regular use of NOW Foods Super Enzymes, my gut has healed to the point where it functions well enough on its own that I rarely need them (or any digestive support) anymore. I am grateful. UPDATE - 10/2015 I still order these from time to time. For example, I take them with me on trips or to events where I have less control over the food ingredients and quality. I only go through a few bottles a year (as opposed to a few a month at the beginning) but when I need them, they are still a life saver.
