King Size: This headboard is freestanding however it can be attached to a standard metal bed frame with a couple bolts (I would just let it freestand). The package was about 85" long and quite heavy so I wouldn't recommend trying to lift it by yourself. I ended up dragging it inside, opening it, and taking it piece by piece to the bedroom upstairs. If your bedroom is on the same floor then grab a second person and take it that way but if not take it in pieces. When it comes to assembly two people is recommended but not required. The only time I could have used a second person is when nailing in the backer board however masking tape will suffice in holding the board up until you've put in a few starter nails. Also when you assemble C11 and C9, as seen in the attached photo, you'll have to put two corner brackets between the two on the back side. Make sure C9 overhangs C11 about 1/4" before screwing down the brackets. If you don't there is a slight bend in C11 which may overhang C9 showing the particle board. In general my wife and I really liked the headboard and the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of labeling. I'm a pretty mechanically inclined individual however if the assembly instructions comes with pieces labeled it would have been nice to see stickers with the corresponding part number on each part. Instead I had to go through the instructions identifying each piece. Tips for assembly: 1. Take pieces independently to bedroom. 2. Use masking tape and identify all pieces before assembly. 3. Ensure you have a 1/4" overhang between C11 and C9 (see attached photo). 4. If putting together yourself use masking tape to hold up backer board. 5. If you attach headboard to bed frame use bolts with washers and not drywall screws. I've attacked a the manual as a slideshow video for those that need the manual.
