I don't know what's with this new open end design. It seems to be the new standard. Before, we used to have a tug to hold the pillow in-place. I dont like the design. It is winkle free, but watch out for machine wash. Make sure to streatch them out before put them in, or it will cause winkle during drying process. Compares to amazon basics 400 threads, it is way better. Very soft and comfortable. I puchased two more sets.
