I am not sure what caused some of the complaints on this but I now have two of these and both work perfectly. I always drain grease from the units after cooking bacon on them as quickly as i can. I never put the unit when it is hot into the sink to prevent thermal cracking which can occur with any plastic that I know of. Always spray the surface before using with a cooking spray light coat and you significantly reduce the browning or sticking of bacon onto the surface and makes cleaning a breeze. I do wash after rinsing (see above note) in a dishwasher with heated dry and or steam. No problems yet and i do not expect any in the future. I use this just about every day, my family is addicted to bacon. In the past i have had other types of these and you got bubbling of the surface over time. This has yet to do that. It is very inexpensive especially with Amazon's sales, so i keep two one typically ready to go and one being in the dish washer. Hate to run out of microwaved bacon. I use a glass bacon press purchased on amazon to keep bacon from shrinking. Not perfect but does a great job considering the characteristics of bacon having a lot of fat that will shrink.
