I bought this supplement, hoping that it would help with brain fog symptoms related to fibro/lyme/chronic pain. I took the initial dose in the morning. Within an hour I got so sleepy- (not fatigued- like fibro fatigued, but actual sleepiness) that I had to go nap. I woke and hour later feeling much more clear in my mind. Now this is where is gets odd. I have been fighting a heavy sinus infection for two weeks-copious amounts of green discharge. At the two hour point, I happened to blow my nose- no more green. Pretty sure that isn't supposed to be possible. I took another dose- two hours after that a chronic asthma/tightness in my chest released, and I felt like I could breathe freely, all the way down to the bottom of my lungs. Really strange. Now don't judge me: I took another dose- this is about 10 hours into the experiment. My clogged face clears, and my sense of smell becomes very acute. I go to bed a few hours later. I wake up this morning and realize, I have slept with no restless legs, and no sleep meds. my mind is clear. My pain levels have dropped to almost nothing. I did a little research as to why this might cause these reactions, and apparently they can be linked to liver insufficiency- a possible partial inability to clear ammonia. (There is no sign of this in my lab tests, or medical history.) For those of you who might want to explore this for your own health, consider researching ammonia levels and potassium, genetic variants in the liver's ability to process ammonia, candida and rapid ph change, exercise and rising ammonia levels. I will update in a month or so, and note whether the effects last. Update #1 Just want to say that it's been almost two weeks. I have to take this in the morning, now, because the initial sleepiness passed, and it now tends to wake me up. It definitely has a positive effect on my restless legs- I don't need to take my prescription med for this, as long as I am taking the ornithine daily. It is also definitely the culprit for my newly cleared sinuses. If I go 24 hours without a dose, the green discharge and full face return. Please note that it does nothing to help with nasal pain related to allergies, it only causes a clear face and normal clear nasal mucus.
