It takes good pictures (not great photos
I bought this last week, and used it on a kayaking trip, and on a hike in the rain. It takes good pictures (not great photos, but if you want that you have to pay more!) and is much easier to use than my old camera. Instead of endless scrolling on the menu using 1 button, there are several that make navigating them menu much easier. The video is 1 button, very easy to use. and seems to take good movies, too. at one point I let the camera sit underwater for about a minute, and the only issue was that the lens fogged up a bit (warm day, COLD water) which the instructions warned about. I had similar fogging a couple times when I tucked it into my life jacket. within a couple minutes the fogging dissipated, so not that big a deal, just make sure you check for it. I had some photos come out poorly because of the fogging. This is my first waterproof camera, so I am not sure if that is the norm for them. There is no cover for the lens window, so you do need to make sure not to scratch it, and make sure you haven't gotten it dirty before you shoot photos. The zoom is pretty powerful for a point and shoot. it works fine until you get near maximum zoom, then the photo quality deteriorates significantly. there is a bar on the graph showing how far you have zoomed, so I as best I can tell the bar is to let you know the photo quality will deteriorate after you pass it. The instructions are a tad lacking. while the thick booklet has pretty much every language you can think of, some of the pictograms are cryptic (surprise) and it doesn't tell you how to do some things. for example, it doesn't say how to upload photos to your computer. It was the same method as my old camera, so I had no issues, but otherwise I would have not known. The camera takes forever to fully charge. I am not sure if there is an issue with my battery, or the camera in general. I have let in charge for hours and it does not fully charge. I may have to return the battery if not. The camera also doesn't warn you when the battery is getting low. it just shuts off until you recharge. Definitely seems to be a good but for the money. Now to see how long the waterproofing holds up!! I will update this if any issues come up with the camera.
