I have used Excel Sensor blades for years and wanted to try old style shaving. Got a few handles and this was the best. I really like the look, weight and length and if I was going to continue doing old style shaving I would use this one. BUT, it's not a better shave than my Gillette and it's not cheaper than my Gillette, so after trying for 2 weeks I'm GOING BACK TO MY Gillette. Here's why: 1) NOT CHEAPER - a) I was getting tired of paying ridiculous money for blades that probably cost like $.01 to manufacture. So I try this old style shaving with metal blades. Turns out NOT CHEAPER. You have to change the blade EVERY day or you will get cut up bad. Depending on whose blades you get they are going to cost approx. $.25 per day. So that is $1.75 per week. I can get my Gillettes in bulk for about $1.00 and they last a week. b) You need a different more expensive shave cream that has a higher lubricating factor and which you need a brush to lather up right. It cost more and you have to buy more frequently. But, some of it smells really nice and I might keep using the cream. 2) NOT BETTER SHAVE - a) It turns out those old tv ads that showed you why 2 or 3 blades are better than 1 are right! These single blades don't give as close a shave. b) Easy to get cut and nicked. c) You get a lot more ingrown hairs. 3) NOT FASTER - Because of the single blade you have to go over things a lot slower and more times. So between having to lather up the cream and going super slow so as not to get cut and also having to go over everything several times to get that close shave it takes longer. That is why I am going back to my Gillette. I can use a blade for a week. I can use just about any shave cream and I can shave super fast without getting my face hacked up.
