Replaced my GlamGlow Supermud
Finding effective skincare has been such an uphill battle for me, so I'm really excited to say that I love this product! Not only do I have extremely oily, blackhead-riddled skin, but I'm also incredibly sensitive to almost every blackhead removing mask I've ever tried. The only one that has ever worked for me is the GlamGlow Supermud mask, which is what I was searching for when I came across this Aztec Healing Clay. Even the GlamGlow product has left my skin feeling itchy and irritated on occasion, and it costs a fortune for a tiny jar of product, so I feel entirely compelled to write this review and explain why I recommend this bentonite clay mask. I mix this mask with 1 tablespoon clay and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. I bought my ACV on Amazon for $9.43 and do not recommend because it was all over the place upon delivery. I've seen this same brand (Bragg Organic w/ The Mother) on the shelf at Target, so I'm sure you can find it at any drugstore, grocery store, Walmart, etc. I also purchased the Mudder Facial Mask Brush Set of 5 for $7.49 off of Amazon, and they work great for mixing and applying the product. I mix in a small glass dish, and wipe any leftovers out with a paper towel, as the clay will clog your drain. Personally, I like to leave the mask on for about 20 minutes so that I can feel the pulsating and tightening. I haven't quite figured out the best way to remove the mask yet, but will continue experimenting with different options that I've read recommended by other reviewers. Upon removing the mask my skin is bright red, but does not feel dry, itchy, burnt, or irritated in the slightest. This is HUGE for me! I let my skin rest about 15 minutes before applying moisturizer (the redness has typically faded by then). I've noticed a dramatic difference in the appearance of my skin overall, especially my blackheads, pores, and coloration. The pulling effects of this mask not only remove impurities from the pores, but they also help to create great blood circulation throughout the face, which I believe helps it to appear more healthy and glowing. My skin is also noticeably smoother and more even, and just appears so clean and dewy! I'm absolutely a believer in the benefits of this product, especially for sensitive, dirty skin like mine. Additionally, it seems to be keeping my typical menstrual breakouts and skin irritation at bay. This is my first period since I've started using the product and have only seen improvement in my skin, despite my raging hormones. That's a definite PLUS! I'm incredibly excited to have found an affordable skincare regimen that has helped to improve my skin immensely. I'm currently using St. Ives Green Tea Scrub $3.64 at Target (Target Up & Up has a great dupe for that also $3.49) as my daily, morning face wash, followed by the St. Ives Collagen Elastin Moisturizer $4.92 on Amazon (AMAZING FOR OILY SKIN!!!!). When I want to apply this mask (usually once a week, in the evening) I wipe my face clean with an Up & Up Exfoliating Cleansing Wipe $3.59, steam my face with a hot wash cloth to open up pores, then apply the mask as described above!
