After One Year The ins and Outs
The Body Flex BFR700/701 Is fluent bike that is smooth and easy on the joints. The frame is well made and sturdy. The display is easy to read while on the bike. You can easily get a nice fluent workout and if desired break a good sweat. I love the way it looks. I have lost 50lbs on this machine and now I would like to let you know what to expect from this bike as this one is my 2nd one. When I first started working out on this machine I weighed over the 250lb limit (285lbs) and it did great. Get a thick gel seat cover so the stock seat don't murder your butt. When putting it together I recommend the following: When assembling this bike put some locktite glue on the Left and Right Nylon Nut (#23L & 23R). The reason being is normal wear happens to these guys one day you will be in the middle of an awesome workout and all of a sudden one of your peddles will get loose a wobble to the point you have to get off and go get tools and tighten in back down....mine did this 3 times in one year...i.e. the simple fix add some glue then tighten in down and never again have to worry about it. I would also zip tie the computer cord to the frame so the wheel doesn't touch it and wear it down. As for the calorie counter it is way way off! It could never be right unless you input some of your information (hight, weight, age, heart rate). So I bought a heart rate timex watch and Velcroed it to the top of the computer. (Find you target Heart rate and workout to it). The bike said I lost 450c and the heart monitor said 1285c. I doubled checked this calorie burn with multiple webs sites that confirmed for me 1285c is more correct. I have asked Body Max to put out an updated monitor that a consumer could buy separate as an upgrade with personal information and a heart monitor system...but the lady just dismissed the Idea. Now for the resistant strap. In a one year period I went through 4 of these at $20 a pop. They are a pain in the butt to put on...so Body Max should make it much easier to put on and come with a replacement in the box. I used to ride it at little resistance with speeds up to 30mph for 30 miles a day until my wife and I went to the beach and rented some bikes to stroll around on. I found out that I had not been working out at real world resistance and wore myself out faster than excepted. So after returning from the beach I adjusted my resistance on the Body Rider Bike to "Real World Resistance" what it felt like a bike riding to pavement. I wasn't looking at crazy resistance or to build up leg muscles. Just a more accurate experience. Well my workouts were much more rewarding and had a better sweat with more calories burned. Now the downside is that the nylon strap would wear threw in about 90 days. So every 90 days I have to spend $20 (about$100 a year) replacing this belt and for me its not as easy as it should be to put on. This is how my first bike self destructed. The belt completed broke the middle of a workout sending the chain off and warping the front wheel and me almost coming off the bike. With all this said YES I like the bike with its imperfections. I see the belt as a 90 day membership fee LoL. As for the computer I wish they would just make one with the bells and whistles and the the customer decide to upgrade to it or not. Some of us take our workouts seriously and would buy it. All in all I like this machine enough to buy another one after my first one crashed (may it R.I.P. Rest in Peaces). I do love to workout on this guy I enjoy it very much. Its the best one for the price point.
Take aways:
> Its very smooth on your joints and easy to use
>Its easy to put together
> Get a thick gel seat cover to save you from the hard stock seat
> Locktite (glue) down #23L & #23R Nylon Nuts
> Zip Tie down the Computer cable
> Ignore the Calorie Counter
> Be aware of your resistance strap and order a new one when fraying starts to occur
