This record is not "Late For The Sky" nor should it be. This record is not "The Pretender" nor should it be. This record is collection of songs that have meaning in the twenty-first century. You want a love song? "Yeah Yeah" fits the bill. You want a political lyric that makes you laugh and cry at the same time? How about "It's hard to say which did more ill / Citizens United or the Gulf oil spill". And, if you want a political lyric that borders on profundity, look no farther that "There can be freedom only when nobody owns it." Heaven knows that I wish it were '75 and that I were twenty-one, but it is not. Our world is confused and confusing. Many of the "truths" that we were taught and that were taken for granted are not, and never were, true. I want to be one "of the people who / Hope with everything they do / They can build something new / And turn this world around." And, while we're doing it, we can listen to some really good music.
