Northwest Fire and Ice Electric Fireplace -Hands On Review
Northwest Fire and Ice Electric Fireplace Review- Hands On I purchased this on Black Friday because it looked very cool and contemporary, and because I thought it might look good under a big-screen TV on my media wall. First, in response to the previous product review, you must have overlooked the "Ice" because it IS included, but in a separate sealed container within the packaging, and it requires less than 30 minutes for you to unscrew the screen and put the "Ice" in the unit. The picture shown is very close to exactly the way it looks in person. Is it the "Best and most realistic fire," probably not, so if you are looking for a "traditional" log and with a natural red/yellow flame fire fireplace, this is probably not for you. This is exactly what it says, a "fire and ice" display which I think looks great. It comes with a remote control where you have five levels of independent control of both the red and the blue flames, so you can increase or decrease the red or the blue one level at a time to your taste. You can turn the blue completely off so you have only the "red" more traditional fire, or can go the other extreme and have a blue "ice fire," or 25 combinations of both colors. This would also be a great fireplace for a game room if you have a team with team colors of Orange, Blue, or a combo. It does come with a two level heater that does get toasty, but it is vented ON TOP not front vented. This unit is designed to be wall mounted like a picture, so if you are going to "flush mount" it into a wall, you will either need to go to your local hardware store and find some insulated curved venting to make it vent to the front, or just don't use the heat. The unit is 54" wide but that's from edge to edge; the actual fire is about 36" wide. PROS: Very Cool Fire and Ice look; Remote control with independent adjustments for both the red and the blue flames; 2-level heater. CONS: Heater is Top vented, not front vented. Short warranty.
