I hope I can clear this up a little with my video , these 2 different tripods have two different heads with 2 different sizes and types of quick release plates. NOT the same heads, as was stated in their description. The SL has shorter threads, a smaller plate and a less effective plate keeper, the one positive is that it has the bulls eye level, however that level is completely covered when the plate is in position. Kinda defeating its usefulness as a quick level. When you read the reviews for BOTH of the tripods they are lumped into the SAME reviews. That's why you get different answers and opinions. Because they ARE 2 different tripod heads on 2 similar tripods. TX570B150SL= Smaller release plate with smooth knobs and a bulls eye level. NO Mono-pod. Shorter thread length. Fixed plate keeper. TX570BDS = Larger release plate with grippy knobs and NO level. Converts into a Mono-pod. Longer thread length. Push to release plate keeper. Otherwise the tripods are effectively the same if you discount the Mono-pod feature on the DS. I purchased both and choose to keep the DS once I could compare them side by side.
