Bought this vacuum for my college dorm room which is about 12' x 13'. This thing has pretty strong suction power. It works amazing on tile and hard floors. It works fine on carpets and rugs for dust and crumbs, but slightly larger objects and scraps may require something more powerful or manual pickup. This vacuum also comes with attachable parts which allow it to adjust to all sorts of messes. I'm not too fond of the removable floor nozzle because it doesn't roll too well on my dorm's carpet and my rug. It works well on any other surface though. The dirt cup is pretty easy to clean and empty. Note that the vacuum DOES NOT STAND UP BY ITSELF. This is not particularly a problem for me, but it may be to others. The cord is 16' long, which can be a problem for bigger rooms. As a student, it is right in the middle of not being too long or too short. I would definitely recommend this for people living in smaller spaces. As a college student, for $20 this was a great budget buy.
