RRAD THIS FIRST BEFORE READING THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!
Applied and was approved for the secured card with a 591 credit score (working on rebuilding my credit after a bad divorce and a foreclosure). Synchrony Bank did only ONE hard credit pull (not two as other reviewers claimed), and I was approved for up to $750, with deposit. I called to verify that in 12 months my card will in fact convert to a Amazon Prime Store Card (non-secured) and was assured it would if all payments were made on time with no returned payments on this or ANY of the accounts on my credit. It's also clearly written in the card's terms and agreement, which you should always read before you apply for ANY credit card account.
Also, making the security deposit was SUPER EASY. I just needed my banks routing and account number and tell them how much I want to "secure". The security deposit should clear in approx 4-5 business days. At which time, my card details will automatically be updated in my Amazon Prime account, so I am able to use my card before it actually arrives in my snail mail box (I think that is definitely a plus).
I would love to know what the credit scores are of those that were denied a secured card. Typically you should have a 500 -599 (which is still considered "below average/poor" credit but is average for someone rebuilding their credit). If you have anything less than 500, try getting a secured card with Capital One (that's how I started rebuilding my credit and it worked wonders). Then around a 550 credit score, apply for a Discover Secured Card (which is also what I did). Once you get up around 580/590, re-apply for the Amazon Secured. You should have no problem at that time.
Hope this info helps before you read all the one-star reviews and change your mind!!
