Re-Seal worked for me, but I made a tragic mistake in how I used it that cost me big bucks. My story: I bought and used this product in May 2013 in my 2000 Toyota Camry. I was having an issue with a cloud of blue-white smoke every time I started the car, regardless of temperature. My assumption was the valve stem seals had degraded over time. There was no way I was going to drop that kind of repair money on a 13-year-old car, so I figured under $10 for an additive was a reasonable gamble. Ordered it from Amazon and it was in the mailbox a few days later when I cam home from work. Being tired and hungry, I decided to pop the hood and dump it in the crankcase. I figured it would mix in fine on the drive to work the next day. Indeed it did, and the smoke went away. Bingo! Ten dollar fix worked! Three weeks later I was headed to the grocery store on my way home from work and the oil light comes on. Not an intermittent light like when the oil is really low but full-time on. Normally for such an event I would have it towed to a repair shop to avoid any damage to the engine, but I chose to complete my trip and gently drive home (about 5 miles). I started driving my truck to work while I put my best shade-tree mechanic skills to work, changing the oil pressure sending unit and other minor checks I found on Google. No joy, so I had it towed to my local non-dealer Toyota repair shop for a diagnostic. It truly had zero oil pressure, so they dropped the oil pan to check the pump. It turns out the pickup screen was COMPLETELY clogged with paint from the inner lining of the oil pan! (Minor rant to Toyota: what on earth possessed you to put paint on an engine part? Every other oil pan I have ever seen is bare or zinc-plated.) Six hundred dollars later I was back in running order, although they could not guarantee there wasn't some bearing damage. Seeing as how Re-Seal is designed to react with rubber seals and paint shares some chemical characteristics with rubber I am assuming that it reacted with the paint in the oil pan enough to loosen it. This would not have occurred had I not just dumped the Re-Seal in and let it sit without running the engine a while. I take most of the blame on myself for not following the directions to the letter, with a slice of blame (or is that shame) for Toyota and their careless product design. I saw this product as a Lightning Deal today, which reminded me to leave this review. Note that it is January 2017 and the smoke problem has not returned in the almost 3 years since I used the Re-Seal in my car. As long as you follow the directions implicitly I would recommend this product, at least in the motor oil (I have no other experience with it other than that). If my 1996 Toyota Tacoma developed a similar issue I would not hesitate to buy this product again.
