Give it a chance to work...
**UPDATE** (4/28/14) What can I say? I started Nursing school so I set this aside for a while, and I totally noticed when it got to my 6 month time. Since then I have used it for a second round. I just use it here and there now, but I try to hit myself at least once a month to keep the growth from coming back like it did before. It didn't grow DIFFERENTLY, I just got really use to thinned, slowed growth. =/ Not seeing any damage to my skin or anything. No overly sensitive areas, no lightening of the skin. No burns, no scarring, etc etc... I am still happy with the product. =) **** Hey there everyone! This is going to be a review for the remington i-light pro premier intense pulsed light hair removal system. I am medium skin toned (I got tanner as this went on because it is summer and I tan easily) and my hair is dark brown. TL;DR version: This system worked for me. After the 3 first treatments I have seen slowed hair growth and less appearance of hair. The real results won't show up (according to the book) for 1-2 months after those first treatments because the hair has to work its way out, so if I remember, I will update later. Now the rest... I am going to encourage conversation here... please, ask me questions. When I was debating on purchasing this system, I really would have liked someone to speak with about it. Just leave a comment and I will do my best to keep up with them. Now, up front, I AM NOT a product reviewer. I didn't get this system for free to use. I spent my own hard earned money on this. (which is why I was desperate for an honest review... and for the most part I wasn't finding any-- when I see the same review, word for word, on the remington site, walmart, amazon, etc... I know it isn't a true review. -_- ) So this is an honest review from me. I went into this very, very non-optimistic. This was my last resort before going to a professional salon and sinking in the big bucks for hair removal. I have used every cream, buffer, razor, etc on the market with no results. (and in some cases, painful results. Some of those creams are no joke.) Q. Where did I use the remington i-light pro premier intense pulsed light hair removal system? Well... I won't lie. I went and bought this system almost 100% for my face. That was my driving force behind it, even though I *KNEW* this system was not designed for my face. I figured I may as well go full monty and use it on my legs, bikini area, and underarms while I was at it. I used a 3 on my face, and a 5 on the rest of my body. The 3 was enough for my face since there are a lot of sensitive areas there. My personal recommendation, if you use it on your face, go with a lower zap and wear eye protection. And don't go above the cheek bone or use it on your eyebrow area. KEEP IN MIND THAT REMINGTON, AS A COMPANY, DOES NOT ENDORSE THIS. I WILLING USED THE SYSTEM THIS WAY, DESPITE WARNING. I don't want anyone thinking that what I did was acceptable, but if you CHOOSE to do it, be as safe as possible. Q. Was the remington i-light pro premier intense pulsed light hair removal system hard to use? About my only complaint is that the system is kind of bulky. But that is all. It turned on just fine for me, and was easy to put back in the package for storage. Q. Are the Cartridges bad? This was the BIGGEST complaint I read about. I am sure it is a cartridge to cartridge issue, but my original one lasted me through 2.75 uses. I had to put a new one in to finish up my leg on my last use, but I am pretty sure I got 1500 flashes or so out of it. I do recommend keeping a spare one though, because (like any technology) you might get a bad one here or there. I had no issues with it though =/ Q. Does it hurt? Heh. Depends. I use to pluck facial hair, and it hurt me plenty good, and even on a 3, this system was still kind of rough. But that is ME. My skin is sensitive, especially on my face and neck, so I expected this. Just keep a realistic outlook when you use it, and if it hurts, lower the level. On the rest of my body, the only place it make me jump a bit was the backs of my legs, and that was at a level 5. Q. Does it work? It worked for me, as a medium toned, dark haired woman. (This is an early review too, I finished the 3rd treatment today.) Now, my results on my face are not as drastic as elsewhere on my body, because I used a lower zap. I will continue the treatments as needed, but it will take a bit longer to see the same results as my legs, on my face. My legs, underarms, and bikini area are all pretty awesome. I get a patch here and there, but they are barely noticeable. I do not have to be as exact with shaving as I use to be, and I can definitely go longer without shaving. (I use to have to shave EVERY 24 hours, or I was looking rough. Now I can go a couple days with no problem.) These are not even my full results. It will be another month or two to get through the full hair cycle, plus other hairs coming INTO cycle will start growing as well. So I won't see a true result for at least another month. This is a process.... even professional salons will tell you the same thing. It takes time, and patience, but I am already seeing results that I am pleased with. Tips: 1. Shave as close as possible. Most of the pain and heat I dealt with was where I got sloppy with my shaving. The closer, the better. 2. Use cocoa butter, or lotion on the areas you zap. I didn't experience irritation or dryness, but I was pretty quick to lotion up. It just makes sense to me to lotion after IPLing. 3. Set aside time to do this. It would take me around an hour to do all the parts I wanted to hit-- which isn't much time, but I needed to sit down and kind of yoga through some parts. It helped to know that I could sit on the floor, take my time, and make sure I got all the areas I wanted without interruption. 4. Be patient. I know it is frustrating, and I know how badly people want results (especially in the face area) but if you over-do it, you can harm yourself. Just give the system a chance to work the way it is supposed to. That is all I have for now. I hope this review helps. Again, leave questions if you'd like. I will do my best to answer them.
