I really wish there were half stars, because this really needs 4.5 stars, instead of 4. The only reason I knocked off a [half] star is because it says that it won't scratch stuff, and I found something it will indeed scratch: my sheet pans. I was trying it on them to get rid of that gunky brown stuff that gets stuck to sheet pans and doesn't want to come off easily. This seemed like it would work for that, but it scratched the surface too, so I guess I'm stuck with some discoloration on my sheet pans. Because of that, I don't know if I'd recommend it for any type of stainless pan, I haven't tried, but after the sheet pans, I'd be leery of using it on my instant pot liner or similar metal pots/pans. Now that the "bad" is out of the way, on to the good! This thing works excellently for cast iron. BUT, it won't even out a cast iron piece where the finish is flaking because of using cooking spray, which is good because it means it really won't take off the finish you've worked so hard to get. Protip: don't use cooking spray on cast iron, I wish I'd have known that a few years ago when I first started cooking on it. Live and learn. Anyway, if you let your food dry on the pan after cooking, you'll need some elbow grease to get the pan clean with this, but it works fantastic if you are OCD about cleaning immediately. Basically what I'm saying here is that I'm still learning about cast iron through trial and error--mostly errors, but I'm getting better. ;-) Buy one of these, you won't regret it, even though it seems kind of expensive compared to other versions on here. And being able to just toss it in the dishwasher once in a while is a big win in my book. P.S. this thing also feels weirdly nice against your skin, almost soft and silky. Not something I think of when I think of kitchen scrubbers, but there you are.
