I bought this cookie press from Amazon last year in December and was very happy with it. The press worked easily and the recipes on the box were excellent. I got many compliments on my cookies, especially the chocolate spritz.
This December, I got out the press again, and again it worked well, until the last bit of dough. Then it stopped working completely, for no apparent reason. I thought at first that my dough had become too soft, so I just made little disk shaped cookies. Today, I tried again, and the press simply would not work, no matter what I tried. It was very frustrating! I ended up shaping the dough into logs and refrigerating them, and I plan to slice and bake them, sort of like ice-box cookies. But, of course, there will be no attractive shapes.
Please, if someone out there knows of a reliable cookie press, respond to this review and tell me about it. I love the look of cookie press cookies, but I have had no luck with them on my own. Thanks!
Edited review--I looked at a comment made in response to another negative review, and I found my problem. The commenter said that the cookie press works like a caulk gun, and that the notched edge of the plunger rod has to be facing toward the handle. I tried this and it worked. Now my only problem is that the directions did not make this clear. Thanks to the person who took the time to write!
