The first couples times I made rice with the measuring cup and corresponding lines in the rice pot, it was too mushy! But when I filled the measuring cup it comes with 1/2 with rice, dumped that in, and then filled the same measuring cup up to 1 with water and dumped that in, it is significantly under the 1/2 cup water line but it made perfect rice. Lost one star for the bad water line, but the product works well if you don't listen to their measurements, especially for such a low price!
