Almost Dry Steam Mop
This is a superb tool for steam mopping in pet households. Even after vacuuming, there are always hairballs wafting about that gunk up the bottom pad of steam mops I've previously used and/or get dragged around after being wetted. On the Bissell 1132A, I kept the vacuum running during the entire time I steam cleaned my kitchen floor, and there were no globs of wet hair on the floor pad after I finished - just regular dirt. Even if you plan on using the vacuum + steam cleaning at the same time, I would highly recommend vacuuming alone before doing so if your floors are noticeably in need of it. The reason is because once the mop pad is attached, the vacuum head is ever so slightly raised up so the suction power is less. You get a better & faster cleaning if you vacuum without the mop pad first. It takes too many passes and too much time to try to get it to pick up everything with the vacuum while steam mopping. It's really only good to pick up minor leftovers with the vacuum if you're using it while steaming. Without the mop pad on, the vacuum power is sufficient to pick up most things from a hardwood floor. I had no problem picking up the majority of cat litter and kibble on my kitchen floor. What little litter was leftover got picked up on the second pass of the vacuum when I did the vacuum & steam combination. This product still saves space/time for me with the preliminary vacuuming because I'm using the same product to vacuum and steam mop and don't have to pull out a second item from the closet. This was the driest steam mop I have ever used. I had no problem walking behind it right onto the area I just cleaned. It took only about a minute to air dry. I was concerned at first seeing so little water on the floor thinking no steam was coming out, but water was disappearing at a fast enough rate from the reservoir to convince me it was indeed producing steam and it was simply hot enough that it stayed steam and evaporated into the air instead of sitting on my floor. Love that I can keep this sitting on a dirty spot for 5-6 seconds to let the steam really get in, and it doesn't leave the spot on the floor a wet mess. Because there's less water on the floor from the steam, it may take a few more passes to get everything clean compared to other mops, but I prefer to take a little longer than to have all that water left on the floor. One thing to keep in mind with this vacuum/steamer combo, since there is the vacuum suction area that can't be covered by the mop pad to allow both things to work, the edges of your floor won't be steam cleaned since only the vacuum part can reach there. You may be able to work around steam cleaning some of the edges of your room if you turn the vacuum a certain way, but there will always be a corner somewhere you can't reach with the steam mop portion. I needed to get down with paper towels and cleaning spray to get the last few crevices after using this device. I did notice the vacuum stops working when the unit gets really warm. I had it running the full time I did my kitchen and turned it off briefly to do a spot with steam only. I tried to turn the vacuum back on, but it didn't work. I noticed the unit felt warm, probably from running the steam non-stop for about 15 minutes. I had to unplug the unit and let it cool down before the vacuum would start working again.
