Nice tool for the do it yourselfer
Received this in a day using Prime. Nice! Actually have another one laying around somewhere in my house that I could n't find and because I needed to check my error codes on my 01 Cherokee before taking it in for Emissions testing, I just went ahead and orders another one. For me, a first time setup takes a very long and frustrating time with trial and error to get it to finally connect. I tried every which way to get it to connect and it finally did by trying restarting my phone, trying car motor on, motor off/key on, key off, hitting connect on the OBD app recommended by the device. Once it connects, I believe it connects much faster from there, initially just takes a long time. I had to check for a power train module error that caused me to fail my testing, lockout torque converter solenoid and low voltage wiring. I checked all the wiring, checked all the specs on voltage and resistance. Rechecked using the scanner, still there. From there it must have been the TCM throwing the code. Ordered a used TCM online, put it in, checked with scanner and voila! No error code. Took it in to my local emissions testing in MD and "your 01 jeep has passed." were the words I needed to hear for a glorious day. This scanner literally saved me wasting time, money and resources because it allowed me to see exactly what was fixing the issues and what wasn't. My only gripe is the time it took to get internally connected. Once connected, works great. I've used it on my '12 Grand Cherokee, my '01 Cherokee and my '12 Altima, works great.
