BUY THIS GRINDER! It's quiet and fast- perfect for GSD & other large breeds
This is the best dog nail grinder- and I've tried them all, from manual guillotine clippers, to Dremel, to various versions of this nail grinder. Our 85lb German Shepherd puppy is not a fan of getting his nails done (or sitting still!), but I just finished all 4 feet in about 15 minutes- and he was almost a month overdue, so his nails were LONG! (I usually try to trim his feet every 1-2 weeks). A few banana kablamma treats and 15-ish minutes later, he's happy because I was able to grind his nails in the dark when he was tired from the day, and I'm happy because I no longer hear his nails on my hardwood floors. Here's why this is the best nail grinder: -QUICK CHARGE: it was delivered and within a few hours, the red blinking light telling me it was charging (via USB) had turned green, telling me it was charged and ready to go -EASILY REMOVABLE CAP FOR LARGE DOGS: If you have a smaller dog, there's an opening that can be used as a nail guide, but for my GSD & other big dogs, pop the cap off and the diamond grinder is about the width of his nail - 2 SPEEDS: big dogs have big, hard nails, and since he's used to a grinder, I immediately flipped it to the highest speed. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is- he didn't even look up from eating his Kablammas when I turned it on, and the sound of his nail being trimmed didn't bother him at all. This thing is FAST and I was able to finish all 4 feet in about 15 minutes! (a word of caution if your dog's nails are super long and require more time per nail- it spins so fast, it can get hot if you don't rotate between nails. The heat is good because it causes the quick to retract within the nail so you can trim them shorter, but pay attention to how hot it's getting if you're on one nail for too long) -the LIGHTS are game-changers: This is why you buy this grinder instead of another one. I have been using the grinder with a single light, and while it's awesome, having a light on each side means I can hold the grinder in any direction and still have the light where I need it. No more bright overhead light that excites your dog- Bear has played hard most of the day, and he was resting and relaxing when the grinder finished charging. I was able to trim his nails in the dimly lit room and keep him calm because the grinder lights shine only on his nail- not his eyes, not my eyes,- it shines only and exactly where I need to see. Don't need the light? An added new feature is the ability to turn the light off, which is also great so you're not burning the bulb unless you need it. Honestly? The only negative thing I have to say about this grinder is the color- but I hate orange, so I'm totally biased about it being black and orange. HOWEVER, it's a dog nail grinder, and IT WORKS GREAT, so buy it even if you hate the color. Don't pay someone to trim your dog's nails- even if you have a big dog who doesn't like having it done. One trip to the groomer is more than you'll pay to try this grinder, and you'll use it at least once/ week because it's so easy to use, and that will help your dog become even more accustomed to it. Just have a few of your dog's favorite treats handy, because by the time they finish the snack, you'll have finished their nails.
