I bought this for use abroad. I think it will do well, but I did several modifications to personalize it. Here they are: 1. I cut away all the pull straps. Besides the potential for them pulling zipper down accidentally, they reminded me of dreadlocks! 2. On each front side zipper pull tab I put a small 1/2inch split ring. these rings can be secured with a small S biner. That S biner is secured to a three inch carabiner clipped through the upper sling strap. In this way, I secure the top three zippered compartments from unzipping. It is unobtrusive and completely secures the pockets. 3. for the lower two zippers, I found a plastic quick disconnect, such a you would find on a neck worn lanyard with a detachable flash drive . The plastic connector is fitted to the two zippers, thus holding them shut and sipped closed.This too is unobtrusive and completely reliable. 4. Another quick disconnect of the same type is attached to the back(belly side) zipper and the 3 inch carabiner mentioned before, thus preventing that zipper rubbing itself open. 5. A second 3 inch carabiner is fitted to the lower bag strap and used to sling a small pocket digital camera to the bag for quick access of candid photos ops.
